Since Neville and Marques have both introduced themselves, and because I get the feeling that people are starting to wonder who I am, I guess I'll go ahead and let you all know whats up with "Raiderette_87". More or less.

THE BASiCS:

* My name is Alfa Santos. Yes, really. Don't you even think about giving me a nickname based off my first name. Many have tried. All have failed. Miserably. My name is four letters long. Any nickname would make it longer and thus defeat the purpose of the nickname. Add to the fact that I have yet to hear anything original.. Only thin I'm ok with is the spelling; Alpha or Alfa. It's totally cool either way.
* My birthday is 24 February 1987.. making me three months away from being 22 years old. Yeah, I know I don't look my age. I've gotten everything frm 18-25 recently.
* I've been confused with being Phlipino, Arab, Hawiian, Malaysian, Pacific Islander.. I'm not. I'm Mexican, born in Mexico of Mexican parents. Genetically, I am Native American, Spanish, and probably French.
* I am fluent in Spanish, my first language. English. Duh. And I'm in my third semester of American Sign Language, also reffered to as ASL.
* I haven't ever lived in Mexico. As far as the US Government is concerned, I've been in the States since I was two weeks old. Yes, I can speak, read, and write in Spanish just fine. But that doens't mean that I lived in Mexico. I taught myself how to read and write in Spanish.

* I've lived in seven different cities thoughtout San Diego and Riverside Counties, CA; been to three different elementary schools, a middle school, and two high schools. So I have yet to feel like I belong somewhere.
* I'm currently employed at
San Diego City College as an educational technicain (snap, big words!). Which basically breaks down to me being a mentor to kids from Garfield High, my alma mater. I help the kids and alumni with whatever they may need help with in their academic lives; filling out the FAFSA, choosing classes, editing papers, etc. Here at work, I specialize in English and history. Why do they need so much help? We all graduated or at one point attended a continuation high school. You know, the taboo school with all the pregnant girls, drug addicts, gang bangers, etc. No, I do not fall into any of these categories. I ended up there because my dad didn't want me to end up needing to go there; I have yet to try or abuse any kind of illicit drug.
* I was home schooled for three and a half years of high school; I was my teacher. All I ever did for the majority of high school was show up once a week to turn in the work I'd compeleted the night before and got more work to turn in the following week. Graduated with a 3.45 GPA. I think.

* I used to be the most shyest person you'd ever meet. But being alone for most of my adolecence, I realized that there wasn't anyone to be shy around. So I'm not anymore. Much. You know how it is, shy and quiet around new people. Loud and heard once I feel comfortable.
* I have the reputaion of not being the nicest person around both in person and online. I think the word most used is "Bitch" or "You're so mean!" It really isn't my fault that people are all uptight and stupid. All I really ever do is point out the obvious.
* I am an English major.. which you may not believe, maxx, by the way I write in the forums. But unless I'm being academically graded, I don't give a damn about how I write. What I say is understood. Isn't that the point?
* And, no, I do NOT want to be a teacher. I think a lot of kids today are messed the hell up and I wound't want to go off on the poor parenting skills of the supposed parents. What I would love to do with a BA in Literature (thats what they call a BA in English at
UCSD) is to go into law. No, I will not help you get out of a situation you got yourself into. If anything, I'll be putting you behind bars; I want to be a prosecutor for the federal government.
* Don't take me too seriously. I have a very sarcastic sense of humor. Unless I write "ha ha" or some type of laughter, I'm kidding/not being serious. It's more obvious when one can see me rolling my eyes or trying not to smile.
* I also have the worst coordination ever. I can trip while standing still..
* I'm really not that difficult to get along with. Just don't piss me off.
* Oh and something I get asked about a lot: yes, I'm single.

SOCiAL STUFF

* I have a brown 30gb Zune named ORCHiD; the brown and green reminded me of dirt and nature junk. So I named it after one of my favorite flowers.
* My Zune will be two years old on 24 February 2009. Now.. why does that date look familiar? I got my Zune for my 20th birthday.
* I have been a member of the Social since it pretty much started. I've been there since 13 November 2007. So I'm an OG. Don't mess.
* I spend most of my time in the

Off Topic threads.
* After Marques and I met, through
my sister, and we started talking and blahblahblah, I became his executive assistant. It was easy to sleep my way to the top. KiDDiNG!! Can't remember who it was that suggested that. But thats NOT how it went down. I applied for the job and because I kick ass (literally or figuritavly? Take a guess), I got it. And if you haven't a clue as to what the fuck I'm talking about, you have either not been at the Social long enough and you need to ask Marques. And if I have to tell you who Marques is, you're dense as all hell and haven't been paying attention to anything.

* If you have been paying attention to this blog, props. I'm sure you've noticed that I write the weekly Happy Hour posts

If you'd like to know anything else about this opinionated Mexican chica, click here for my MySpace profile. Dont' worry, you won't have to do much reading; its mostly just a bunch of icons.

Or you could just ask. Really. I know I'm really implicit and I would so much rather you ask me than you draw up your own wrong conclusions. I get effin pissed when people do the latter.

---> EDiT: Thanks to my sister, Amy, for two of the three pictures.

Wow... so I'm feeling a little short on this whole 'introductory post' thing.

Nicely done Alfa. It's great to "meet" you. I have respect for self-starters, you're definitely one of them. As for the lawyer part my recommendation would be to try to intern with your local courthouse. I interned with mine (unpaid) over the course of this summer, the Clerk's office to be exact, and loved it. The experience and contacts were worth it. Now I'm thinking about law school as a result of the internship. Though I hear the money is made in the private (mostly civil) sector, most of the lawyers I talked to said the criminal cases were more exciting.

    @raiderette....LMFAO

I must introduce you to my friend, Elizabeth Aguilera. She lives in Omaha, and I don't get to see her as often as I'd like. You remind me a lot of her.

She, too, is intense! I love her and her opinions.

It's a pleasure to meet you.

@ Neville: thanks. i've thought a lot about interning for the courthouses here; family law or civil. or immigration. i hear a lot of funness happens there.

ive known that i want to be an atty since i was in high school. didnt realize i wanted to be a prosecutor for the feds till i started college. ive also been really involved with my parents' office; they're advocates specializing in helping abused and battered women obtain legal status in the States. as a result of everything they do, i really am a failry decent receptionist/secretary, ive been with an atty to CCA as a translater, and ive done millions of birth, marriage, and death certificate translations from Spanish to English from Mexico and Honduras. the first death certificate i did creeped me out..
i once translated a Brazilian birth certificate from Portugese to English. it was CrAzY!!! the Brazilian guy was reading it off in Portugese, my dad was making sure i understood in Spanish, and i was typing it in English. i dont think ive ever been so confused in my life!

but anywayz.. ive spoken to my dad about heading over to the federal builiding ((with him because he's really well connected)) once the semester ends and see if i can intern for intersession 'cause i wont have a damn thing else to do for six weeks.
