If the name Jim Allchin [zune.net] doesn’t ring to you immediately, what if I told you that Jim Allchin used to work for Microsoft? In fact, he was Co-President of Microsoft’s Platform and Services Division – the team that put together Windows Vista, to be exact. When the OS launched in 2007, Allchin officially retired from Microsoft so that he could start a new chapter in his life. So what did he do? He went into music. Rock to be exact.

Now Rock, as you all should know, is a very broad term. Allchin didn’t go into anything that sounds like Linkin Park or Slipknot. If anything he went into that bluesy, folk rock. The kind that you hear in the dive bar somewhere on the outskirts of the South. To prove that point, I’m giving you guys a free MP3 from Jim Allchin’s album “Enigma”. The song is called “Rockin’ Chair” and it’s your basic 12-bar downhome, hounddog blues.

After listening to this song, I have this strong urge to watch Patrick Swayze in Roadhouse. And dammit, Jim, that’s a good thing.
