So here we are friends, one of the major weeks that tech geeks have been waiting for. The Consumer Electronics Show is upon us and with it comes major announcements, new product unveiling, parties, news coverage and major AT&T outages. I'm proud to say that I will be there from Friday to Sunday covering CES for both Inside the Circle and for the Examiner.
So what can you expect from me out of this show. Honestly, don't expect me to give the level of coverage that you could get out of a Gizmodo, Engadget or Techcrunch, but I will provide my coverage in such a way that you'll feel like you're walking with me along the show floor. I only plan (at this point) to hit three major companies: Microsoft (obviously), Sony and NVIDIA. There are questions I want to ask NVIDIA about their Tegra technology and specifically about that technology being in a device like the Zune HD and where they see it going in 2010.
Now last year, Zune threw a party at the Palms, but it doesn't look like they'll be doing that again this year. However, I did manage to find myself invited to two back to back parties on Friday night. Of course, I'll be bringing some coverage from those events as well, but you'll probably start to know when I've had one too many beers.
This being my first CES event, I hope to make it just as exciting for you as it will be for me. I already know that I wouldn't be able to cover the entire event (or see everything) so I'm not gonna try. I'm going to just cover what I can and inform you of what I find. Then, when I return there will be a special Circle This podcast where I will go into greater detail about what I saw, who I talked with, etc.
CES makes a great kickoff to the kind of 2010 that will be exciting for both myself and for the readers of this blog. We are going to go on an interesting journey and CES makes an excellent launchpad.
Now, of course, I'll be visiting the Microsoft booth and having a chat with the folks there (including the Zune team). If there's anything specific you want me to (try and) find out let me know. Hell, if you want to recommend a type of cocktail that I should try at the parties or while I'm there, I'm game for that too.
LETS GO!
