Zune Social: So here's the skinny: As much as I have enjoyed this project, I was always wondering if there was a way to get the blog readers, twitter followers and facebook friends to get involved in this. Essentially, I want you guys to have some influence on the new stuff that I discover. I've managed to get some good mileage out of creating 2nd and 3rd tier Smart DJ playlists, using channels and randomly clicking through mixview, but now I want to get you guys in on this act.
And it's quite simple: I want you to bombard my Zune Social account (tromboneforhire) with play lists. Send me playlists of songs that you like and are listening to (click here to see how to do that). I would prefer that they aren't playlists of just one artist, I want you to mix them around, diversify them, surprise me and don't be afraid of what you send (meaning don't worry if I'll like it or not). I promise to give each sent playing list some rotation time. In fact, if I start getting enough of these playlists, I'll remove my own Smart DJ play lists from my computer and replace them with the ones that you guys send me. So let er rip.
On a somewhat related note, I sent out a tweet saying that I was formally ending this project on June 1st (even though I will continue to add 1-2 'undiscovered territory' Smart DJ play lists to my device). I even joked that no one was paying attention. I wanted to thank those who not only said that they had been keeping bit of a watch on this project but it's inspired them somewhat to step out of their own comfort zones and truly see what they can find beyond the horizon.
Give this a try, if you haven't already. It's a true eye-opening experience.
